Our client, a multinational industrial construction company with headquarters in Europe, is looking for a Project Control Manager (Dam Project) with extensive expertise to oversee the construction of a Mega Dam in Saudi Arabia. It is possible that this position would be an excellent fit for you if you have a strong interest in managing difficult construction projects and making significant contributions to essential infrastructure.

Project Controls Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Oversight and Coordination: As a project controls manager, you provide oversight and coordination for various aspects of project management, including:

    • Cost Control: Overseeing project cost control by developing internal training tools, coaching project managers, auditing deliverables, and defining service requirements for engineering and construction contracts.

    • Change Management: Implementing client cost control processes and monitoring an effective system of programme and project cost controls.

    • EVM Methodologies: Ensuring compliance with Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies.

  2. Engineering and Construction Coordination:

    • Coordinating engineering and construction activities in alignment with the overall project schedule requirements.

    • Establishing scheduling standards for all IT-related tasks, including compiling baseline schedules for remediation and construction,.

  3. Financial Management:

    • Managing and tracking all project and programme funding sources, including Statements of Work (SOWs) and external contracts.

    • Measuring and controlling cost, schedule, and technical performance against task or project plans.

  4. Cost Estimating and Reporting:

    • Performing cost estimation functions, including quantity surveys, assessment of appropriate inflation factors, and pricing based on relevant data.

    • Preparing monthly analyses and reports on expenditures, progress, commitments, budget performance, and schedule performance.

  5. Team Management:

    • Recruiting staff, conducting interviews, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counselling to ensure consistent application of project control processes and procedures.

    • Providing regular briefings to project managers on project financials, schedule status, issues, and concerns.

Project Control Manager Qualifications:

  • Experience background: 25 years of experience in complex construction Projects (at least 5 years in DAM Construction or huge structure construction).
    Experience must be with reputable multinational construction companies and in challenging large size projects.                           
      At least for the last 15 years worked in the capacity of Project Control Manager or Planning Manager for the multibillion construction Projects.

  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional),Master level experience in P6 (Primavera) and SAP control management modules,

    Education: Employers typically prefer candidates with relevant degrees, such as bachelor’s or college degrees, in fields like engineering, construction management, business, project management, or related disciplines.

Desired Skills for Project Control Managers:

  • Engineering Knowledge: Familiarity with engineering practices, procurement, and contracts.

  • High-purity gas installation techniques are relevant for specific projects.

  • Construction Expertise: Understanding construction processes and practices.
