My client, a Construction company are recruiting for a Senior Buyer to join their Procurement team. You will be joining a busy site base project team on a major UK construction project in Yorkshire.

As a Senior Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services essential for our project. Your expertise will contribute to the successful execution of our project by ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement while maintaining high standards of quality and supplier relationships.

Roles and responsibilities:

Interface with engineering stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely purchase requisitions are created and processed into purchase orders.
Collaborate with project teams to understand material and equipment requirements and develop strong working relationship between teams.
Raise purchase orders and manage the order process from placement to delivery of goods.
Manage multiple purchase orders with multiple vendors.
Accurately track all procurement activity, including requisitions raised, POs placed, key order milestones, delivery location and required on site dates.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate inventory management efforts to prevent shortages and overstock situations.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers and vendors.
Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favourable terms, pricing, and contracts.
Monitor market trends and industry developments to anticipate potential supply chain disruptions and proactively address them.
Ensure that all procured materials and equipment meet the required quality standards and comply with industry regulations.
Participate in regular team meetings and contribute expertise to enhance overall project outcomes.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

- Previous Project Procurement experience essential (min 2 yrs on Projects)
- Min 5yrs Procurement experience, ideally most recently as a Snr Buyer/Procurement Specialist. Construction background advantageous.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills
- Experience with RFx process, including bid assessments and weighted scoring.
- Strong stakeholder management experience required, with proven ability to influence at all levels.
- Demonstrable success in managing priority of Purchase Order placement.
- Experience of using Procurement specific software, and also MS Office based procurement systems.

Please note that this is a full time site based role in Yorkshire.
