Associate Design Engineer III - Mechanical

Major engineering company is seeking an Associate Design Engineer III – Mechanical with emphasis on biotech/pharmaceutical for a permanent role. Can be remote or located in Greenville, SC.

Duties

• Perform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of moderate engineering complexity
• Develop Mechanical datasheets, specifications and narratives to solicit quotations and procure mechanical equipment in the Life Science industry
• Develop Request for Quotation (RFQ) documentation, perform Bid Analysis, and generate Request for Purchase (RFP) packages to support equipment purchases.
• Assist in establishing, tracking material key quantities and reporting costs to project
• Assist with management of Supplier Procurement and Contract Packages
• Moderate Knowledge of Modular/Skidded Design systems beneficial
• Review Supplier designs including 3D models, Supplier drawings and documentation
• Interface and coordinate with multiple disciplines to integrate equipment design into projects
• Assist with management of Supplier and Project meetings
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT)
• Participate in training and contribute to training activities

Basic Job Requirements

Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and five (5) years of work-related experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
• Ability to pay attention to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Preferred Qualifications

Engineer-in-Training achievement status accomplished
• General knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials
• Practical field experience
• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

Other Job Requirements

Experience with Life Sciences is preferred.
• General Equipment – Tanks, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, general fabrication techniques
• Knowledge of Industry Codes such as ASME, ANSI, ASTM, AWS, OSHA, CFR, PIP
• Knowledge of Validation Requirements
