Fire Protection Engineer (P2)
We currently seek a high caliber Fire Protection Engineer for a long-term basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals. Based in Ridgecrest, CA

Specific tasks for the Fire Protection Engineer include but are not limited to the following:
• Analyses and calculations in the preparation and review of final detailed working drawings. comparative cost analysis. Request for Proposal (RFPs). and project specifications for a wide variety of facility types for multi-discipline and/or fire protection engineering projects.
• Performance of Quality Control and Quality Assurance and reviews of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates. and studies by other engineers
• Ability to prepare and analysis post award cost estimates as they relate to fire/ life safety protection systems.
• Ability to perform technical analysis on contractor cost proposals and assist CM in developing recommended negotiation positions.
• Ability to identify technical risks at post award design phase of a project, determine potential impact. and assist in developing governmental mitigation plans to alleviate or reduce the potential impact.
• Ability to read and understand contractor baseline schedules and required two-week look-aheads and schedule updates.
• Knowledge and understanding of the requirements within the Army Corps of Engineers EM-385-1-1. Safety, and Health manual
• Attend post-award contract meetings, such as post-award kickoff meetings (PAK). Pre-construction conferences, informal or formal partnering meetings, schedule acceptance meeting. design review meetings, weekly progress meetings, and Facility Turnover Planning Meetings (NAVFAC Red Zone).
• Review and approve contractor's submittals for conformance with the requirements of the contract drawings and specifications. Review and approve shop drawings. sample s of materials and components, catalog information, certificates of compliance. Value Engineering Change Proposals (VECPs); and provide technical responses to Requests for Information (RFls).
• Ensure requests for deviations or changes to any terms and conditions of the contract are coordinated and approved as appropriate with PM, CM, and contracting officer.
• Visit construction sites to monitor progress and resolve construction issues in a timely manner

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Fire Protection (or certified equivalent).
• A minimum of 5 years of Experience as a Fire Protection Designer/Engineer on commercial/Industrial type facilities contracts with at least three (3) valued in excess of $10 million
• Knowledge of industry codes and standards practices related to fire protection engineer including Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC). National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, FM Global Loss Prevention Data Sheets, Society of Fire Protection Engineers Handbook, and various industry standards.
• Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes. and other statutory requirements affecting fire protection engineering throughout the area of responsibility.
• Experience with the use Autodesk software. Microsoft Office products. fire protection engineering design and analysis software is required
• Knowledge and use of Primavera P6 scheduling software is highly desirable.
