TRS is seeking an experienced Weld Engineer to join one of their Summerville, SC Clients for a full time/direct hire opportunity!
This position will support the welding and surface preparation value stream by implementing methods that utilize lean, cost efficient and state-of-the art industrial vehicle assembly processes and material handling methods.
Compensation: $70-90,000 DOE
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• In depth process knowledge of welding GMAW, GTAW, Resistance Welding, FCAW, SMAW, HED Welding and Solid-State Welding.
• Extensive hands-on experience with welding MIG, TIG, Pulse, Arc, etc.
• Develop and implement welding processes for material handling equipment, such as masts, chassis, and other similar products.
• Familiar with designing, reworking, repairing welding and test fixtures.
• Has strong programming knowledge of automated welding equipment.
• Is familiar with manual and robotic arc welding cells.
• Understands Destructive and Non-destructive testing criteria and methods, equipment.
• Knowledge of materials and materials processing & proper surface preparation.
• Understands welding prints, drawings, and engineering specifications.
• Extensive experience and working knowledge of weld code specifications Fosters a continuous improvement culture and implement structured problem solving
• Drive welding cost reduction initiatives to meet production cost targets
• Assist team to select most efficient and cost-effective tools for welding processes
• Support operations management to resolve production & quality problems via root cause analysis
• Generate project status reports

Education and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Weld Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology
• 3-5 years of progressive working experience
• Computer design experience in SolidWorks, ProE, Creo, or other.
• Computer programming skills in Motoman, Panasonic, FANUC, or other Robotics, MATLAB, C#, and Network/IoT Development.
• Project planning experience and strong communication skills
• Must work well under pressure in international and cross-functional teams to meet deadlines
• Excellent MS office skills, AutoCAD, or AutoCAD Inventor software experience is preferred
Must be Authorized to work in the US regardless of sponsorship
Local candidates preferred. No relocation assistance currently available
Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
