Develop new and revise current safe work practices and procedures as required.
Based on team input, identify safety/ security improvements and propose methods for resolving or improving worker safety.
Provide training support for assigned program areas.
Participate in and or provide direction to others conducting incident investigations, including follow up actions to ensure implementation of identified corrective actions.
Monitor, coordinate and implement occupational safety/ security and health programs.
Oversight, implementation, promotion, and operation of the safety/ security program including the development of safety policies and procedures.
Monitoring heavy industrial construction work for compliance with safety/ security requirements.
Identifying leading/lagging indicators and path forward to address leading/lagging indicator trends.
Conduct audits of the jobsite and assist in the formulation of mitigation methods.
Investigate all job incidents to discover root cause and prevention methods.
Prepare safety/ security reports.
Analyzing leading indicator statistics to effectively develop safety bulletins, training topics and safety/ security meeting topics
Involve all sub-contractors in the safety/ security and health programs and delivery
Degree/education in Safety related discipline.
10+ years of relevant experience in a safety/ security role.
Demonstrated experience in heavy civil construction is required; some exposure to transit construction considered an asset.
Strong working knowledge of [Cal-OSHA] Act and Regulations with an enhanced level of knowledge and experience in construction requirements.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft office software.
OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) experience.
Experience leading an on-site safety team is required.
Working knowledge of heavy equipment and construction terms and processes.
4 year Degree in Safety, Security, Occupational Health, Construction, or equivalent
OSHA 30 hour construction, or equivalent
Certified in Safety and Security such as CHST, CSP, RSP, STS, WSO, or equivalent
10+ combined years of Rail, Transit or civil construction safety and security experience, or equivalent
1 year FRA roadway worker protection, or equivalent
Experience working with regulations such as FRA, FTA, Cal-OSHA, NFPA 130, or equivalent
Experience successfully establishing a strong, proactive safety and security culture, or equivalent
