Our client is responsible for developing a $37 billion rail network in the Middle East and are recruiting for a Legal Counsel to be based in Doha, Qatar. The legal Counsel's role will be to provide a timely and effective legal service for the company and the project delivery teams.
Your roles and responsibilities as Legal Counsel will include:
An attorney with 7 plus years post admission experience in providing legal advice on a range of commercial and procurement contracts;
interfacing with technical and commercial teams;
understands the nature of working in a legal department that is supporting a world-class infrastructure project.
Ensures that the activities of the Company are conducted lawfully and in compliance with all relevant contracts, procedures and regulations.
Provides full legal service to delivery and operations teams in co-ordination with other departments and external legal counsel.
Drafts, reviews and provides advice on commercial and corporate contracts and procurements, including tendering processes.
Provides advice and guidance to the Procurement Department in the preparation of ITTs, and related documentation for major contracts.
Deals with external legal counsel in an efficient and cost effective manner while obtaining external legal advice as required by the Company from time to time.
Supports and assists in developing Corporate Governance policies and programmes including monitoring compliance and providing education programmes.
The successful candidate will have the following experience:
Law Degree and admitted in a relevant jurisdiction.
Must have had experience in private practice and have broad commercial/corporate experience of 7+ years in, or associated with the Infrastructure or construction industry
Commercial and Contracts - with an emphasis on legal work supporting major projects
Familiarity with the contract and commercial features of transport or similar projects is desirable.
Regional experience is an advantage.
