Our client, a leading global infrastructure group, is seeking a Mechanical and Plumbing Estimator to join their team in their Dallas, Texas location.
The role of the Mechanical and Plumbing Estimator is to prepare selective sections of schematic, design development and construction document estimates on large construction projects over $100 million dollars. Responsibilities include soliciting M/P subcontractor bids, evaluating the scope of work, preparing quantity surveys, detailed scope of work, reviewing project plans and specifications so that client expectations are met by obtaining competitive pricing for complete scope of work.
Review project plans and specifications;
Prepare transmittals, distribute plans, specifications and addenda to subcontractors during the bid process;
Prepare detailed quantity surveys;
Solicit M/P subcontractor bids prior to bid day and follow up throughout bid process to ensure adequate bid coverage;
Prepare detailed scope;
Coordinate scope of work with other estimating staff;
Acquire skills to price work using crews, material pricing, and equipment pricing;
Price work from quantity surveys using MC2 software;
Coordinate with subcontractors throughout the bid process, field questions, and obtain answers;
Post documents with addenda to ensure that all revisions are incorporated into final scope and pricing;
Evaluate Subcontractors scope for conformance to company construction scope of work
Update company with Subcontractors and Supplier information;
Update company construction historical database;
Monitor document control; and perform other duties and functions as assigned.
Knowledge and competencies identified for the Building Mechanical and Plumbing Estimator are typically acquired through a minimum of ten or more years of experience AND a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or a related field.
In some cases, relevant and equivalent years of experience in the construction industry may be substituted for formal education.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and extensive experience in the development of costs estimates from concept through GMP for major construction projects are required skills for the Mechanical and Plumbing Estimator.
