For one of our projects within Life Sciences, we are looking for a Project Director. We wish to gain the benefits of the previous experience of the successful candidate in shaping this new role to the long term benefit of the project. It is therefore critical that the candidate is willing and able to provide their knowledge, experience and opinions in a coherent and professional manner to help optimise the role and the benefits it will bring to the project.

• The primary focus of the role will be to optimise the Life Sciences project execution to achieve both Client and Business objectives.
• The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the Life Sciences project execution.
• Key to this position will be the ability to function both in support of business development/proposal efforts and to lead the execution of awarded projects.

Necessary activities will include:
• Business Development -Provide project leadership support to the sales team as required in pursuit of life sciences opportunities. Maintain key Client relationships in support of business development and pursuit of new work.
• Strategic Planning - Participate in Life Sciences business strategy development and lead Project strategy development. As appropriate, provide oversight or leadership in key areas.
• Project Leadership - Provide leadership and direction to the project team contributing expertise to planning and execution of the work. Hold overall technical and commercial accountability for the project.
• Reviews - Undertake reviews of projects to ensure that technical and business objectives are met.
• Training and People Development -Participate in the identification of company personnel skill/experience gaps and support mentoring and training of staff.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate must have at least 20 years of experience in the Life science Industry
• Has led the execution of major/complex pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology projects including green field developments and brown field expansions. Has sound project execution experience of both Primary and Secondary facilities.
• Has thorough understanding of the contractual and commercial implications and specific executional requirements of different project contract types including reimbursable, lump sum services, Fixed Price Lump sum, LSTK, guaranteed maximum and incentivised fee.
• Has extensive experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams through all phases of Life Sciences projects including Master Planning, conceptual design, basic design/FEEDS, detailed design, Procurement, contracting, construction, commissioning, qualification and validation.
• Has experience of working within JVs, consortiums and partnerships with complex contractual arrangements.
• Possesses significant experience of presenting to Clients and senior external and internal stakeholders both in a business development and project execution context.
• Develop and maintain good and lasting client relationships based upon trust, even in challenging circumstances
• Provide leadership and mentoring in the development of the Life Sciences business, establishing and implementing individual development plans and conducting one to one feedback sessions for staff under their control
• Ensure viable succession plans are established and maintained for key positions within their area of responsibility
• The Project Director, Life Sciences role will involve regular interface with Farnborough office operations management and departmental management including; engineering, project controls, sales, marketing and proposals.
