We currently seek a Safety Manager for a contract-to-hire position within our client's team of experienced professionals based in the Coldwater, MI area. This person will manage company safety policies during equipment installation, commissioning, and ultimately operations once the plant is started up.
Phase 1 - New Plant Equipment Install, Commissioning, Testing and Go Live (November 2016 - August 2017)
• Enforce the use of safety equipment/clothing as required by OSHA and Company safety regulations.
• Reinforce that team members, vendors, subcontractors and visitors on the project site are in compliance with the safety requirements of Company.
• Perform safety audits and follow up on any corrective action. Utilize audit information to improve processes and procedures.
• Perform/coordinate air quality and noise monitoring as necessary.
• Review contractor site safety programs and make recommendations for improvement.
• Develop project specific site safety plans and an emergency response plan.
• Ensure that appropriate safety records are maintained.
• Ensure that work areas are maintained in a neat, safe and orderly fashion.
• Investigate root cause of incidents and complete reports as required. Implement sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurrences.
• Assist facility leadership in administering counseling to employees and subcontractors who are in non-compliance with safety requirements.
• Hold safety meetings/jobsite reviews as part of coordination and other meetings.
• Responsible for the communication, implementation and enforcement of Company safety program on site.
Phase 2 - New Plant Start Up and Ongoing Operations (June/August 2017 - Ongoing)
Performance Management - Priority 1 - 20% of Time
Strategic Planning - Priority 2 - 25% of Time
Safety Program Management - Priority 3 - 25% of Time
Talent Management - Priority 4 - 20% of Time
Team CFG - Priority 5 - 10% of Time
Requirements Job Qualifications:
• This person may come in contact with hazardous material and will need experience and certification in this area
• Bachelors Degree in related field required
• 3-5 years of experience in Safety field required, construction, equipment installation and manufacturing environments strongly preferred
• 5-7 years of progressive management experience required
• Strong written/verbal communication skills and management presence
• Ability to excel in fast-paced environment where change and growth are part of the culture
• Collaborative team player with service-orientation
• OSHA certifications: 30 Hour, 40 Hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 500 Level
