A leading Mining Operator is recruiting for a Capital Coordination Manager to be based in their London office on a permanent basis.

Your role as Capital Coordination Manager will be to manage the capital allocation process, from capital submissions through to approvals. Manage the capital approval reviews, including input from subject matter experts and from decision makers and ensure that capital applications are rigorously scrubbed and that capital applications are fully benchmarked. You will be responsible for ensuring that capital expenditure is aligned to life of mine plans.
The Capital Coordination Manager will be responsible for the following strategic objectives:
• Implement best practices in rigorous sustaining capex process, gating and review process across the operating units. Capex aligned to life of mine plans, scrubbed and managed.
• Delivery of a fully socialised (assets and Mining Segment aligned + Group Strategy aligned) annual Strategy Plan/Business Plan in Q4 each year + mid-year update.
• Capital Management & coordination including Investment Allocation Committee level files, Coach and guide assets capex teams so that they produce best in class files to group. You will need to ensure for each asset it is: scrubbed, lowest spend for most reliable, lowest opex operations. Sign off on 5yr detailed (bottom up) capex plans by mine and 10 yr capex to match med term mine plans/asset development.
• Growth capex: monitor, review and integrate growth capex requirements as part of strategic planning process
• Continuous Improvement including: Establish one methodology, training etc across the business; ensure development of asset capability up maturity curve; specific annual, structured, rigorous value generation programs in all assets; Guide and monitor continuous improvement projects aimed at meeting cost reduction and productivity improvement targets.
• Participate and support M&A initiatives

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

• Management skills and proven ability to drive change
• Solid understanding of mine planning and modelling, mineral processing and logistics (rail/port), as well as mine economics and financial modelling
• Proven knowledge in iron ore and coal value chain
• Global experience in multi-commodities and very large mining operations
• Strong understanding of Open Cut and Underground mine operations
• Strong experience in governance processes
• Ability to think strategically
