The appointee will be leading a team to plan, direct, organize and manage civil and building facility maintenance activities for the terminals cost-effectively; and to provide a well-maintained and efficient working environment with reliable and satisfactory quality in achieving company goals.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Organizing and managing construction projects, renovation, and civil and building facility maintenance works; and providing professional advice for formulating maintenance strategy.
Preparing tender documents and monitoring contractors to carry out project/maintenance works.
Providing input for evaluation and appointment of consultants and contractors, and manage tender related issues.
Formulating CAPEX and OPEX (R&M) for the engineering and maintenance activities.
Monitoring safety, environmental, and construction standard and practices, and make recommendation for further improvement.
Liaising with end users, consultants, and contractors.
Liaising and negotiating with relevant government/statutory bodies for licenses, permits, and interfaces with adjacent government/statutory contracts regarding civil and building facilities of the terminals.
Ensuring effective budget control and timely completion through effective resources allocation/project management skills.
Reviewing and planning schedule for all terminals facilities upgrade and maintenance to support the company development needs.
Setting up and ensuring procedures and contingency plans are in place and complied with statutory requirements.
Taking up ad hoc projects or assignments in all engineering and maintenance related aspects when required.
Education and/or Experience:
Degree holder majoring in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Civil engineer charter ship, or equivalent professional qualification.
Minimum 10 years’ relevant working experience (preferred with at least 3 years in container terminal) with 5 years management experience in multi-national companies.
Familiar with construction trade practices and general standards.
Possesses good construction project management, communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred with strong technical know-how on civil structures and terminal facilities.
Initiative, innovative and result-oriented.
Mature and able to work independently and under pressure.
Proficient in written and spoken English and Arabic.
Possesses good performance track record with previous employers.
