Claims Negotiator – Salvage
• The Claims Negotiator contributes to the organisational goals by processing (from registration through to settlement) and validating insured’s (& Third parties’) claims within reasonable time frames to meet the insured’s needs and requirements. Results orientated and thrive within a high pressure dynamic environment. A strategic thinker who follows a decisive and proactive approach. A team player that is committed to acting with integrity, responsibility, and accountability. Responsible for handling a variety of Salvage claims to conclusion within established range of authority. Work involves independent judgment with minimal supervision.
• Salary negotiable for correct candidate depending on experience and knowledge.

Minimum Job Requirements;
• Matric
• Prepared to study towards a full FAIS qualification
• Must do Regulatory Representatives exam
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in claims field
• Bilingual
• Efficient in word, excel and outlook
• Good communicator (verbal & written)
• Must be a problem solver (able to assimilate large amounts of information and apply policy wording)

Key Responsibilities:

Operational
• Sound knowledge of claims principles in industry including Claims management.
• Responsible for handling claims with accuracy and consistency, following established procedures and authority limits, policy wordings and provisions.
• Actively manage and oversee start to end of claims function.
• Contribute to the growth and profitability of the Company by providing excellent service and maintaining relationships.
• Gather necessary documentation and ensure an accurate and timely recovery process.
• Collections.
• Under limited supervision, provide claims service to customers regarding vehicle total losses.
Document the loss, address immediate questions regarding the claims process and reviews, analyse and communicates the vehicle settlement value.
Evaluate and validate moderately to complex total loss estimate. Prepare total loss damage evaluation, determination, and actual cash value of vehicle.
Responsible for reviewing assigned claims on a regular basis and is accountable for accurate reserves and updating the system.
Must ensure all relevant documents are compiled such as title holders (e.g. banks), NaTIS documents, ensuring deregistration of motor vehicles where applicable, change of ownership, police clearance etc.
• Safeguarding of relevant documents and keys according to regulations.
• Ensuring the register is kept up to date with all relevant information and according to legislation.
• Ensures compliance in all aspects of salvage.
• Directs salvage disposal.
• Handle initial set up of Salvage claim file and determine plan of action to perfect recovery.
• Track, monitor and facilitate salvage recovery through diaries and salvage reports.
• Controls costs.
• Co-ordinates rental vehicles.
• Works with salvages facilities, handling salvage issues including documentation in accordance with legal requirements.
Reviews open files on a regular basis and takes appropriate follow-up or closing action.
• Gives written notice to claimants, insureds and legal counsel of denied claims.
• Investigate and maintain a complete and thoroughly documented claim file.
• Ensuring prompt and courteous feedback with every claim.
• Maintaining and updating of diary/schedule for each claim in the adjusters pending.
• Responds to claim correspondence in a timely fashion with very high quality of service.
• Handling and settling of claims on Company’s delegated authority and at the same time maintain the standards of the claims department.
• Controlling of registers, compliance with SLA’s, diary management, quantum, recoveries, salvage and secure proper claims maintenance.
• Ensure all technical aspects for claims settlement are adhered to.
• Negotiate settlement of the claims with all relevant stakeholders.
• Daily diary files to be extracted and dealt with e.g. letters of demand, final notices reminders and follow up assessors’ reports.
• Processing payments on system.
• Registering claims with the reinsurers/co insurers companies.
• Facultative reinsurance & co-insurance recoveries.
• Monitor and periodically review estimates, updating system.
• Appointment of investigators, assessors, loss adjusters and other experts if necessary
• Negotiate discounts to reduce costs with repairers, service providers and partners, without compromising quality or harming client retention initiatives
• Signing off of third party releases.
• Third Party recoveries.
• Handles claim complaints and enquiries.

Relationship Management
• Liaising in a professional manner with brokers and other insurers in respect of claims aspects.
• Following up on regular intervals and provide constructive feedback to brokers and management.
• Respond to queries within 24 hours.
• Liaising with attorneys, giving instruction to attorneys to act on Insurers behalf.
• Work with different people internally and externally to improve service, efficiency, and improve presentation of information.
• Procure service providers and partners, negotiate costs.
• Actively build, improve and maintain relationships with all stakeholders, i.e. internally and externally. Meet with brokers, service providers, partners and other divisions to ensure challenges they may face are addressed.
