We currently seek a high calibre Contracts Engineer to work on a contract basis. Based in Eemshaven, you will be working for one of the world's leading engineering, procurement & construction companies.

Scope of activities
As Contract Engineer you will be acting as a link between the Project Management and Engineers and delivering input from the Contracts Department, providing independent advice and assistance with the pre-qualification of contractors, preparation of tender documents, contract negotiations, commercial and technical tender assessments, evaluation and negotiation of compensation events, preparation of detailed information required for budget forecasting purposes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Participating in the project contracting philosophy and subsequent contract schedule and overall contracting plan
• Developing more detailed individual contract plans for utilisation by all involved disciplines
• Performing detailed area resource surveys of contractor capability for the work involved and providing recommendations to the client
• Preparing project bidders lists and obtaining approvals as required
• Ensuring all contract files are maintained in accordance with project procedures
• Preparing and developing contract bid packages based on job requirements and engineering data
• Establishing negotiating strategies
• Participating in contract risk assessment and mitigation reviews & recommendations
• Holding bid explanation meetings for appropriate scopes of work (including required job walks) to ensure bidders understand the scope of work/services to be provided
• Receiving and evaluating bid documents in a fair and ethical manner, in cooperation with the Discipline Engineer, including technical evaluation
• Ensuring security of pricing information
• Making appropriate recommendations and coordinating contract awards
• Preparing and administering contract documents
• Holding job-site meetings with contractors as necessary to monitor progress and contract compliance
• Managing assigned contracts, including documenting changes to the contract in a timely manner and processing contractor invoices to their client for payment
• Setting the goal of zero contractor claims (not including normal and acceptable changes) and fulfilling the objective by implementing a project claim prevention programme
• Preparing monthly contract status reports
• Coordinating final acceptance of work and associated payments
• Evaluating contractor performance at contract completion

• At least 5-10 years in similar position(s)
• Good knowledge of the (petro)chemical industry
• Extensive experience acting on behalf of and representing clients
• Fluent in English
• University level of education
