Job Title: Contracts Manager

• The Contracts Manager will be responsible for the management of the construction site in order to achieve required project delivery to the customers' objectives, while maintaining standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact and cost control. The post-holder will work closely with the Estimating Department and surveyors to ensure that projects are completed in a safe manner whilst customer requirements and expectations are always maintained or exceeded. The Contracts Manager will report directly to the Operations Manager.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Supervising and overseeing the direction of the project (or a package), ensuring that the client's specifications and requirements are met, reviewing progress and liaising with quantity surveyors to monitor costs
• Liaising with the client, other construction professionals and, sometimes, members of the public
• Coordinating and supervising construction workers
• Selecting tools and materials
• Carry our frequent safety inspections and ensuring construction and site safety
• Checking and preparing site reports, designs and drawings
• Maintaining quality control procedures
• The ability to foresee any problems which may arise and effective problem solving skills
• Assessing and minimizing risk
• Preparing of site reports and staying abreast of all paperwork
• Drafting of programme of works
• Progress updates in terms of the programme
• Reporting to the Operations Manager on the progress of works in terms of delivery of project
• Liaising with the professional team
• Management of site team
• Liaising and coordinating of all work
• Managing and coordinating of all subcontractors
• Ensuring company policies and procedures are followed
• Managing a site from inception to completion
• Ensure that quality standards are met
• They are in charge of all workers on site
• Ensure that all employees have the necessary tools for work
• Ensure that all workers are wearing the correct safety equipment
• Ensure that all the work deadlines are met
• Ensure work co-ordinated on site
• Ensure work constructed as per drawings
• Drafting of monthly programs in terms of monthly program
• Represent in informal meetings
• Ordering of material and equipment in terms of maintaining program
• Chair subcontractor meetings
• Drafting of request for information
• Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
• Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew
• Allocate general and daily responsibilities
• Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
• Ensure manpower and resources are adequate
• Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
• Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
• Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget
• Resolve problems when they arise
• Report on progress to managers

Minimum requirements
• Matric
• 6 years' experience
• Valid driver's license
• Mobile phone
• Civil Engineering qualification
