We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a growing team with one of our steel manufacturing partners. This is a contract role located in Pueblo, Colorado.

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for planning and conducting work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in equipment layout, optimization, value engineering and detailed alignment of steel and aluminum rolling mill equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Support projects including participation in all interface meetings
• Provide input to cost and schedule estimates
• Develop project reports, presentation of cognizant information and other related project support identified by project leadership
• Provide technical support for procurement specifications; quality control; non-conformance, re-specification or design; and test applications
• Prepare all project documentation, issue contracts, follow fabrication of equipment, install equipment into facilities
• Ensure completion of all projects on time by complying with project schedules based on project priorities and target dates.
• Effectively work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
• Diagnosis problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Use Remote I/O systems, Industrial Communication Systems and Protocols to support the project
• Balance cost vs benefit to find the lowest practical installed cost for mechanical and fluid systems
• Calculate HVAC loading / sizing based on ambient conditions and heat loss
• Utilize UPS systems as deployed in a heavy industrial environment

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (BS) in engineering from an accredited engineering program; typically, five (5) years of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Expert level knowledge in equipment layout, optimization, value engineering and detailed alignment of Steel / Aluminum Rolling Mill Equipment
• Expert at balancing cost vs benefit to find the Lowest Practical Installed cost for mechanical and fluid systems. Able to think outside of the box to find the optimal cost solution
• Experience with Greenfield startup, including engineering reviews, field changes, field routing changes, etc.

• Deep understanding of calculating Connected Electrical Load vs Expected Electrical Demand as it relates to the sizing of Transformers
• Deep understanding of Modern Remote I/O systems, Industrial Communication Systems and Protocols. Understanding of how to develop and specify the Control System Schema
• Experience with UPS systems as deployed in a Heavy Industrial Environment
• Experience in Safety, EHS and ergonomic engineering practices
• Experience working in a Heavy Industrial Construction and plant site
• Multiple years of experience, over multiple projects where they have reviewed various OEM and Utility drawings to find the optimal balance between low installed cost while maintaining operability and maintainability
• Provide technical support for procurement specifications; quality control; non-conformance, re-specification or design; and test applications
• Preparation of all project documentation, issue contracts, follow fabrication of equipment, install equipment into facilities
• Support projects including participation in all interface meetings, providing input to cost and schedule estimates, development of project reports, presentation of cognizant information and other related project support identified by project leadership
