Environmental Specialist

Our client, a leading EPCM with projects worldwide, is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join their team in Kitimat, BC. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of local, provincial and federal environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

• This position reporting directly to the Engineering Manager is responsible for construction planning and execution, and compliance in monitoring terrestrial, riparian, freshwater and marine areas.
• Consult and oversee execution of construction activities ensuring compliance is met with federal and provincial regulations
• Conduct and document pre-disturbance and construction monitoring activities
• Implement and supervise techniques to minimize environmental hazards
• Supervise training courses and assist in mentoring junior field staff, as well as writing proposals, operations, logistics, quality control and planning
• Work independently and in a cross-disciplinary team environment. Role is majorly field based.
• Interact and liaise with clients and project teams

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or Biology or equivalent
• 8+ years of experience in project environmental management
• 2+years of experience in working in marine, estuary, freshwater, and terrestrial environment in early works, civil and marine construction.
• Strong demonstrated experience in implementing projects, managing resources, leading teams, project management, client relations, technical writing, business development, aquatic ecosystems and the collection of baseline data
• Previous experience with oil & gas, hydroelectric and mining projects would be considered an asset
• Registration as an R.P. Bio in good standing with CAB-BC or other QEP designation
• Excellent skills in project management, technical writing, construction planning, and environmental planning, as well as verbal and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license
