Job Title: HSE Engineer (Health, Safety, and Environmental)

Duration of assignment: 6 month contract-to-hire
Status: exempt level position
1 / - MISSION:
To provide HSE Personnel and Associates with the assistance and support necessary to ensure a safe working environment and maintain compliance with applicable HSE programs, regulations and laws. Further perform activities recognized to achieve / maintain HSE related ISO certifications.
2 / - MAIN ACTIVITIES:
Conduct environmental and safety inspections and audits, including but not limited to: air emissions, hazardous waste, universal waste, storm water, wastewater, first aid, PPE, daily walk-throughs, etc.
Conduct HSE audits of contractor activity
Manage and file records and documentation specific to Health, Safety and Environmental, including SDS
Create and revise HSE communications, work instructions and procedures
Update HSE documentation (e.g., risk assessment, impact analysis, etc.)
Conduct research to support HSE (supplies, PPE, etc.)
Assist in the implementation and auditing of the HSE Control Plan
Assist in the development and coordination of the facility's waste management and recycling programs
Conduct TOP Safety Observations
Conduct shipments of hazardous waste
Conduct HSE Training, specifically RCRA, DOT
Support HSE Personnel
3 / - REQUIREMENTS:
5+ years of experience managing health, safety, and environmental functions in an automotive or heavy industrial manufacturing facility
Experience with wastewater, hazardous waste management, hazardous materials transportation,
RCRA Hazardous Waste Management Certification and DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation Certification preferred
Experience implementing complete Hazardous Waste Program
Experience writing training programs and work instructions, conducting training, implementing visual management, making recommendations for PPE, storage, layout, conducting weekly inspections, conducting shipments of hazardous waste, etc.
Experience implementing DOT training program, waste program (non-hazardous)
Background in identifying waste streams, color-coding, source containers,
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
