Instrumentation/Electrical Designer
We currently seek a high caliber Instrumentation/Electrical Designer for a long-term basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals. Based in Carson, CA
Summary of position:
The I/E Designer should be familiar with electrical/equipment layout; conceptual and detailed design of electrical systems in petrochemical, water, or other industrial facilities; use of AutoCAD software to prepare plan and elementary and connection drawings. Key Attributes include: excellent verbal and written communication.
Requirements / Must haves:
- Two-year technical degree and/or completion of electrical design/drafting course, or 10 years' minimum full time (or equivalent) electrical design experience.
- AutoCAD software applications.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English required.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge regarding the National Electric Code.
- Ability to read electrical drawings including:
- Single lines
- Schematics
- Connection diagrams
- Lighting plans
- Grounding drawing
Job Duties:
- Generate field sketches to complete design of electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with required standards for plant physical layout and safety in design practices.
- Accumulate necessary data, including reference drawings, field notes, measurements, customer requirements, equipment manufacturer's data, etc.
- Prepare preliminary sketches, layouts, working and detail drawings and diagrams.
- Review project specifications, administrative and technical practices, design instructions, plot plan, flow diagrams, and supplier information.
- Perform manual/computer layouts using specifications, standard drawings, design instructions, plot plan, flow diagrams, and supplier information.
- Communicate and interface with other project design and engineering disciplines.
- Complete manual/computer drawings.
- Check, back check, and correct manual/computer drawings.
- Check other departments' design drawings and supplier equipment drawings.
