The Laboratory Technician is a wage role position reporting to lab supervision and management. As an effective team member, he/she plays key roles for the success of West Laboratory operation that supports Ethylene 2, EO/EG, LLDPE, LDPE, and UO&I.
Based on operational needs, the lab technicians must be willing to work on days or nights on a shift rotation.
Perform sample testing and analyses and other tasks necessary for effective operation of the West Plant Quality Control Laboratory in compliance with ISO 9000 Quality System and Operating Procedures.
If required, perform calibrations, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of analytical equipment. Maintain documentation and records.
Work with Chemists to provide process and/or analytical support to the manufacturing units in conjunction with or under technical guidance. This includes simulation of existing and proposed processes on the bench, or multi-step synthetic organic reactions including set-up of reaction apparatus, combination of reagents and solvents, monitoring reactions, separation and purification of products.
