Qualifications and Standards
o10+ years of construction experience as a Superintendent or equivalent.
oKnowledge of principals, methods and standards of the specific function of the designated trade's area.
oExperience in the use and methods of tools and equipment commonly employed with the trade.
oAbility to read and understand plans and specification.
oPerforms work in accordance with standards and specifications.
oManager profitability of projects.
oThorough knowledge of project plans and specifications.
oThorough knowledge of types and application of materials required through project completion.
oMaintain full knowledge of scope of work.
oRead and study job set up and cost reports.
oRecognize changes to scope of work & inform Project Manager.
Project Planning and Coordination
oWork with engineers, owners, or sub-contractors to accomplish tasks.
oPlan project work with Project Manager.
oSchedule project work with Project Manager.
oAttend weekly superintendents meetings.
oMaintain accurate and up to date “as built” drawings.
oManage quality of work on project.
oManage project field problems.
oOrder and track material deliveries.
oReceives materials, inventories, store safely. Be accountable for inventory.
oRequest utility locations.
oCoordinate layout & staking.
oMaintains ongoing project punch list.
oPlan one to two days' work in detail with back up plan.
oPlan one week ahead in lesser detail (needs, services, repairs).
oSchedule equipment & material requirements.
oCoordinate people needs.
oSchedule trucking requirements.
oSupervise craft employees and /or sub-contractors to accomplish daily tasks.
oEvaluate performance of employees.
oAssume responsibility and maintain productivity of craft employees.
oRecommend salary increases, promotions, etc.
oResolve personal problems among crew.
oInterview perspective employees and take disciplinary action for problem employees.
oDocument all violations and notify Project Manager and Safety Manager; recommend and implement corrective actions as required.
oTimely evaluation of new hires at 45-day and 90-day increments on proper forms.
oEvaluate current employees as directed on 6 month or annual basis.
oTrain crewmembers for the next step in their career.
oEvaluate potential employees for promotion/demotion.
oCreate training opportunities for employees.
oShare experience and knowledge with crew.
oShare with crew overall project plan as well as short-term goals.
oMaintain and submit Employee Time Sheets.
oComplete and submit Job Reports in detail.
oTurn in signed material receipts with job number, cost code, and purchase order number written on receipt.
