A renowned Oil & Gas operating companty is looking for a Superintendent Maintenance - Rotating Equipment to lead the Maintenance function for the Rotating Equipmets.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will serve as the technical authority on rotating equipment issues. This includes determining and selecting appropriate strategies for the maintenance of rotating equipment to maximize availability and mechanical integrity of these assets. Moreover, managing, directing, controlling and monitoring the quantity and quality of all mechanical work done by various Engineers and Technicians.
Your role will extend to the following:
- Preparing and setting mechanical division labor and material budgets to ensure funds are available to meet mechanical maintenance objectives of availability and mechanical integrity
- Motivating, supporting and developing staff in the plant maintenance mechanical division to ensure that the defined maintenance strategies and procedures are implemented and adhered to in safe, cost effective manner
- Ensuring adequate spares are held and preventative maintenance schedules are configured and processed for continued availability of refinery rotating equipment and relief valves
- Providing input to rotating equipment failure investigations by initiating, leading or participating in investigations to enhance availability
- Ensuring a 24/7 response to emergency situations relating to rotating equipment and relief valve failures and problems to minimize downtime
- Initiating improvements to rotating and other refinery equipment aimed at reducing failures and associated costs as well as improving safety
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc. in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Membership of an appropriate Engineering Institute or Professional Body
- Detailed practical knowledge and experience of machinery obtained through an Engineering Apprenticeship or similar training programme
- 15 to 20 years’ experience in an oil refinery and/or petrochemicals plant
- Good knowledge of the principles, practices and technology associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment installed in refineries
- Detailed knowledge of craft practices and procedures
- Detailed knowledge of maintenance and operating procedures pertaining to equipment or facilities being worked on
- Good communications skills – English written and verbal as well as being able to write detailed technical reports and recommendations
- In depth knowledge and experience of condition monitoring techniques and their application
- Good leadership qualities with supervisory and organizational ability, as well as being able to give clear, concise instructions
