Job Title: Planner
Location: Richards Bay
Salary: Market related
Contract/ Perm: Perm

Primary Purpose
• The Planner will report to the Operations Director as a member of the services team and will be based in Richards Bay. The Planner will be responsible for preparing and monitoring planning schedules from the initial proposal stages through to engineering, procurement, sales, deliver, installation and commissioning phases. The planner will be required to report and measure the progress of each activity and will be responsible for the development and consolidation of expertise, methodologies, tools and best practices related to resource planning and risk management.
Accountabilities % of Time
• Analysis and workload planning of all company schedules
• Identification / validation of key deliverables, completion milestones and stages of work
• Establishment of a detailed list of activities and deliverables, work sequences, durations and identification of critical activities
• Measure and report the progress of all activities and deliverables on a weekly basis
• Monitor and report cost earned vs cost spent for each activity and deliverable
• Preparation and negotiation of contractual schedules with engineering and manufacturing subcontractors and suppliers
• Implementation and progress monitoring of schedules of activities for major equipment suppliers, subcontractors and site activities
• Conduct gap analysis exercises, planning revisions and preparation of information for weekly / monthly progress reports for internal and external customers
• Liaise with all internal departments and sites to ensure consistency between multiple schedules of activities for different projects
• Actively anticipate and resolve any potential or observed delays
• Update and develop methodologies and planning tools to measure project progress
• Administer and report on project risk and opportunity reports
Key Relationships
• Build and maintain a good relationships with the other departments of the company which will be key to the success of the job
Education & Qualifications
• Recognised Project Management Qualification advantageous
• MS Project/Primavera skills
Relevant Experience
• Previous work planner experience within a manufacturing organisation
• Understanding of manufacturing and repair work business
