Job Description

A Principal Design HSE Engineer will normally be the most senior engineer of his discipline on a particular project with full authority to act for that discipline when delegated to do so by the Discipline Technical Authority.

Design HSE is the fundamental discipline which ensures a safe process plant design.

Its work involves producing documents that satisfy the Health and Safety Executive.

To act as lead Design HSE engineer on projects and proposals with responsibility for technical quality and meeting programme and cost targets. To supervise and/or carry out Design HSE work on such projects.

To plan for adequate resources and to monitor and report design progress and man-hour usage to the project management team.

To work in a collaborative multi-disciplinary project delivery team, through proactive liaison with other disciplines and to ensure integration of Design HSE into the overall engineering design.

To support the Design HSE Technical Authority in technical development of the function.

To offer advice and support to colleagues and subordinates on development needs taking into account work activities, learning ability and circumstances.


Skills & Experience

First degree in Chemical Engineering (Mandatory) with Masters in Chemical Engineering or Process Safety Management preferred.

Experience 10 to 20 years
