We are currently seeking a skilled Purchasing Specialist to join our clients' team of talented professionals. This is a CONTRACT TO HIRE position based in Lake Forest, CA.

Summary of position:
The purpose of the Purchasing Specialist is to purchase parts, materials, supplies, machine services and other items that affect the production and services within the organization.

Requirements / Must haves:
• Education: some college course work preferred; APICS certification a plus
• Minimum 5+ years in Purchasing; experience in manufacturing (aerospace/medical) environment
• Excellent customer service orientation and excellent interpersonal skills
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Proficient with MS Office
• Excellent data entry skills
• Experience with the use of ERP systems
• Working knowledge of purchasing policies and processes; knowledge of warehouse and inventory control processes
• Ability to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements
• The ability to follow instructions and procedures, including all company policies and procedures
• Ability to work in a deadline oriented environment handling and prioritizing multiple tasks critical to the company's Production process
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work occasional overtime

Job Duties:
• Responsible for negotiating rates and supply contracts as needed
• Responsible for developing a bid system that adheres to specific regulations related to transactions
• Creates POs by verifying specs and price; obtaining substitute items when needed; obtaining appropriate approvals from department and/or management
• Verifies all information including quantity, product/service description, and pricing and compares to master list; recommends alternatives as needed
• Co-Signs or initials all POs as they are approved
• Utilizes an ERP system to coordinate all services and purchases
• Recognizes and modifies any process inconsistencies
• Evaluates suppliers and monitors orders to avoid production delays
• Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends
• Audits paperwork on an ongoing basis
• Updates inventory in ERP system as needed
• Requests revised certifications from vendors
• Creates new inventory P/N's for shop items and new parts
• Maintains Customer log for tier pricing
• Orders and maintains company office supplies
• Ability to perform specific job related tasks to remain in compliance with AS9100 requirements
