Location: Greenville, SC
Industry: automotive manufacturing, plastic injection molding
Status of Hire: full-time, direct hire
Shift: 12-hour rotating shift on nights – “D Shift” 7p-7a which follows the molding department rotating schedule (36 / 48 schedule working Sun/Wed/Thurs week 1, Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat week 2)
Reports to: Senior Quality Engineer - Molding
Pay Range: $20-26/hr DOE plus $1/hr shift differential
OBJECTIVE:
The Quality Lab Technician will provide precision product and process measurement support for plastic injection molded automotive parts. This person will strive to satisfy all internal and external customer quality requirements.
PRIMARY DUTIES
• Performs precision measurements on products and associated gauging to verify part conformance to specification of injection molded components according to requirements detailed on inspection plans
• Follow protocols and procedures for Control of Non-Conforming Product
• Perform visual inspections, which meet and exceed Control Plan requirements
• Operates and utilizes hand held measuring tools (calipers, bore gauge, height stand, etc.) and other measurement equipment as necessary to verify inspection plan requirements
• Documents measurement results and problems on specified forms and/or SPC database and actively participates in problem resolution
• Performs first piece measurement of mold startups, shutdowns, and regular shift checks
• Identifies and stores retain samples
• Initiates containment for defective components and assists in sorting/inspection activities
• Practices 5S principles in all aspects of job responsibilities
• Perform measurements on incoming components
• Perform Capabilities & MSA studies for new and existing parts
• Notify team members (Quality Staff, Molding Staff) of issues with parts being inspected (verbal notification, e-mail notification, and any other information as required)
• Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing principles including but not limited to: Kaizen, Standard Work, Jidoka, 5S, and other elements of lean manufacturing
• Other responsibilities as assigned by Quality Manager and Quality Team Leader
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
• Must have minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent
• ASQ CQI preferred
Experience:
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in plastic injection molding manufacturing and assembly operations
Knowledge and skills:
• Proficient in the use of quality measurement equipment to include micro-view, micrometer, calipers, gage blocks, dial indicator, basic electronic equipment, pin gages, digital scales, SPC database,
• General understanding of SPC (statistical process control) techniques
• Knowledge of proper measurement techniques
• Ability to read and comprehend basic engineering blueprints
• Good computer knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel)
• Ability to perform repetitive rotation and movement of hands and wrists to work quickly and efficiently
• Good dexterity
• Good eye/hand coordination
• Ability to bend, lift and stretch
• Ability to observe, receive and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources
• Ability to identify the underlying principles, reasons or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts
• Ability to shift back and forth between two or more activities
• Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
• Ability to successfully interface with internal customers, all departments, and all levels of management
• Pleasant and tactful approach when dealing with people
• Self-motivated and results oriented

• Required to be on-site
