TRS is seeking an experienced Safety & Environmental Manager for a direct hire position within our client's growing team of professionals in the Rockwood, TN area. The primary responsibility of this position is to interact directly with plant employees and contractors and on a day-to-day basis to ensure a culture of safety, managing any incidents that arise, and the implementation / monitoring of all environmental programs and processes. Must be committed to safety and protection of all personnel and the environment.
- Responsible for facility initiatives related to the environmental aspects to be addressed under the facility's ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system (EMS):
- Supervises and oversees maintenance of the EMS and facility management procedures,
Reports on performance of the EMS to the Plant Manager for management review and as the basis for continual improvement, and
Oversees and enforces compliance with the EMS.
Maintains working knowledge of permits and regulations applicable to the facility (including, but not limited to RCRA LQG and TSDF regulations, Tennessee Hazardous Waste Management regulations, CAA Title V, Tennessee Air Pollution Control regulations, NPDES, SPCC, Tennessee Water Resource regulations, EPCRA TRI and Tier II, DOT, TSCA) and performs inspections to ensure compliance with the same.
Participates as needed in compliance assurance and EMS auditing programs and conducts routine informal facility inspections to monitor compliance on a real-time basis.
Maintains and oversees keeping of environmental records, as required by facility permits or the facility's EMS.
Ensures that all required environmental compliance monitoring data is collected, maintained, and transmitted in a timely manner.
Supports corporate environmental efforts related to permitting, reporting and data management (including, but not limited to TRI, Tier II, annual hazardous waste reports, GHG, CDR, and Title V).
Oversees the hazardous waste receiving / manifest tracking systems to ensure that regulatory requirements are achieved.
Administers the facility's Integrated Contingency Plan.
Coordinates response to all hazardous material related incidents and ensures proper cleanup, disposal and regulatory reporting.
Provides information as required according to company incident reporting procedures and agency notifications according to regulatory requirements as outlined in emergency response plans.
Develops working relationships with field level regulatory agency personnel.
Inform vendors and contractors of environmental and safety requirements, and work performance expectations.
Collect and maintain vendor / contractor environmental information.
Arrange for vendor / contractor training on EMS, compliance aspects, and safety as necessary.
Provides and / or arranges for all personnel environmental and safety training, as required.
Coordinates safety audits and analyzes results with facility management.
