Our client is seeking a Safety Manager to join their team of professionals. This position is based in Costa Mesa, CA

Summary:
Under administrative direction, facilitates compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines; evaluates and provides recommendations on measures to minimize workplace hazards or unhealthy situations; be on the constant lookout for occupational health and safety violations; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Minimum of five (5) years of comprehensive experience in workplace safety and compliance programs;
Certificate in occupational health and safety;
BS/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred but not mandatory
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stretch, lift, and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or less;
Ability to operate a forklift; and
Possession of valid driver's license; and
Certification in the operation of a forklift.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Possess proven experience as safety manager;
In-depth knowledge of applicable legislation (e.g. OSHA/EPA) and procedures;
Knowledge of, and ability to identify, potentially hazardous materials or practices;
Experienced in writing reports and policies related to occupational health and safety;
Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics;
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics in both English and Spanish;
Proficient in written and verbal communication skills in Spanish;
Experience in organization, preparation and conducting training;
Ability to provide consistent focus on workplace accident and injury prevention by being conscientious and farsighted;
Ability to establish a safe workplace in accordance with legal standards;
Ability to foster a company-wide culture of attention to occupational health and safety; and
Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.

Job Duties:
Supports the development of occupational health and safety guidelines, and EHS policies and programs;
Advises and instructs on various safety-related topics (noise levels, use of equipment/machinery, etc.);
Conducts risk assessments and enforces preventative measures;
Reviews existing policies and measures and updates according to legislation;
Initiates and organizes EHS training of all company personnel;
Inspects premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using appropriate personal protective equipment);
Provides oversight of process and/or equipment changes as it pertains to worker safety and safe operations;
Records and investigates safety-related incidents to determine causes, and helps with workers' compensation claims;
Prepares reports on safety-related incidences and provides statistical information to upper management;
