Location: Augusta, GA
Industry: complex processes (industrial metals refining, processing)
Status of Hire: full-time, direct hire
Pay: $100-125k plus 10% annual bonus
Reports to: Supply Chain Manager

Your Tasks
• Responsible for all sample preparation of raw materials and in-house laboratory activities (Strategic and hands-on management)
• Responsible for a professionally correct sample preparation of raw materials, including operating sample preparation equipment.
• Responsible for a professionally correct laboratory analysis of samples, including operation laboratory equipment.
• Key-User and first level support for Sample Preparation & Laboratory Team software which will include software implementations.
• Must successfully communicate, interact, and interface with international and domestic employees of all levels regarding operational and non-operational topics. Examples of roles include (but not limited to): management, leads, Quality Team staff, engineers, production, maintenance, safety/environmental, procurement, human resources, stakeholders, etc.
• Acts in an industrial environment with high level of compliancy rules (safety, environment, quality).
• Extensive contact with internal/external suppliers/customers and/or purchasing and customer service department, to identify, research, analyze and resolve issues.
• Provide support in several areas, including issue resolution, financial performance, adherence to contract terms and solution design and pricing, as needed.
• Understand, comply, and supports implementation of all federal, state, and company health, safety, and environmental requirements, inspections and procurement of equipment and parts.
• Establish and maintain communications between all levels of supervision and management – including being responsible for all reporting needs for the SCM department. (May include being part of specialty projects.)
• Supports Local Production Planning in having up-to-date transparency in material flows and inventories.
• Work hand-in-hand with Quality Team to optimize sampling and estimation, etc.
• Implements performance measurement & KPI tracking for operative responsible area. Establish corrective actions for underperforming metrics to ensure performance standards are met.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Metallurgy, Material Science, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry) or 5 (five) years equivalent advanced work as proven manager and/or related military experience
• Minimum of 5 years practical experience in related sample preparation/ laboratory/ process engineering professions
• Proven work experience as a sample preparation or laboratory manager, ideally in an international environment
• Minimum of three (3) years strong leadership skills which have been successful in motivating staff to ensure operative targets are met while maintaining the quality standards
• Possess a deep understanding of chemical or metallurgical (production) processes and requirements
• Experience with a start-up of a plant is beneficial
• Proficiency in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
• Solid knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices in the workplace
• Solid knowledge of environmental protection, occupational safety, and labor law standards
• Must be conversant in current DOT and OSHA regulations
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and product flows
**Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer, regardless of authorization or visa transfer
