We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant for an opportunity within our client's team of experienced professionals. This a direct hire position, based in Huntington Beach, CA.
Summary of position:
The Sr. Accountant will be part of a small accounting team. The Sr. Accountant will work heavily in G/L accounting, financial statement reporting, GAAP analysis, and ad-hoc projects.
The Sr. Accountant will interact with all functions of the business at all levels and must have the confidence and leadership ability to strategically partner with the business leaders and influence their decisions based on data. Requirements / Must haves:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
CPA with experience in a small local public accounting firm is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in private accounting (additional public experience is preferred).
Intermediate level knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Sound, practical experience with reviewing and refining internal controls.
Driven to provide excellent customer service.
Advanced experience using Outlook, Word and Excel experience are required. Some MS Access experience preferable.
Must have experience using mid-sized business accounting applications.
Proactive approach to problem solving and resolution utilizing effective diplomacy.
Results oriented and collaborative.
Organized and able to comply with deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Complete month-end close process and look for ways to expedite the process without compromising quality.
Verify the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger by investigating budget variances, identifying and resolving issues, and ensuring all transactions, including balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and journal entries, are accounted for in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Analyze accrued payroll, sales commission and bonuses to ensure compliance with policies.
Utilize report writer software to prepare monthly financial statements.
Perform analytical review of monthly financial statements including budget variance explanations.
Research intermediate accounting issues and implement procedures to ensure transactions are properly recorded under GAAP.
Assist with the implementation and development of controls, policies and procedures to support growth and expansion.
Assist in cash flow forecasting.
Assist with the annual financial planning and budget process.
Lead the preparation of audit schedules and all other requirements for external auditors.
