Senior Naval Architect

Department / Information
The Engineering Department is responsible for providing innovative, cost effective engineering services and solutions. Within the Engineering Department the Naval & Marine Section is responsible for the hull integrity, marine system design and related aspects.

Function
As a Senior Naval Architect you are responsible for the delivery of engineering work scope in line with the project’s technical specification, budget and planning. Depending on the workload you will lead a small team engineers and designers including supervision of subcontractors. You report to the Project Engineer on progress, set backs and concerns and signal technical risks and anomalies in projects to the projectmanager.

You will provide assistance in feasibility studies for designs and relocation/conversion projects. You will prepare hour estimates, planning, create basis of designs and scope of works and assist in selecting suitable subcontractors. You will act as a senior engineer or lead engineer, interfacing with other disciplines and providing engineering deliverables. You assist in obtaining client and third party approval on the project. You reply to queries from the project team and from yard site team on time.

Requirements
In general you have a broad experience as a Naval Architect in the Shipbuilding and/or Offshore industry.
- A bachelor’s or Master’s degree in naval architecture or offshore engineering
- At least 8 years of (relevant) engineering experience in the offshore and/or shipbuilding industry
- More than 2 years (relevant) experience as a Lead engineer in the offshore and/or shipbuilding industry
- Good knowledge of and experience with structural, hydrodynamic and hydrostatic analysis
- Experience with both structural and arrangement design
- Good practical knowledge of relevant international design codes and class regulations
- Good understanding of the English language (verbal and written)
- Excellent communication skills
- Already living / working in The Netherlands (preferably in the Randstad area)
