We are recruiting for a Senior Pre-Contract Manager (Telecoms) to work on major new projects for a fast growing company. This permanent position is based in Milton Keynes. The role offers a salary of £85-95k and excellent benefits.

Job Role:

• To negotiate fit for purpose construction contracts to deliver a major Fibre to the Premise (FTTP) capex programme of up to £2.5bn over seven years.

• Provide in-house expertise for NEC3 contract management and dispute resolution.

• Reporting to the Procurement Director, this is a senior position for an industry recognised expert in the negotiation of NEC3 construction contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for delivering fit for purpose construction contracts & frameworks to deliver a major capex programme.

• Leads the formation of contract strategy to meet and exceed company objectives.

• Leads the negotiation, formation, award and mobilisation of construction contracts.

• Minimises programme risk by securing construction resource to match the capex programme.

• Provides construction contract expertise for contract management and to avoid the potential for dispute.

• Ownership of commercial and contract escalation activities such as Dispute Resolution, Mediation and Adjudication

Knowledge & Experience

• Expert in negotiating NEC3 construction contracts within the Telecoms/utilities industry

• A track record of successfully negotiating strategic contracts for a large capital plan to tight time scales

• An experienced QS with advanced QS capabilities to lead the analysis of bid returns and negotiate fair rates.

• Delivering win-win and sustainable outcomes for the client and contractor.

• Strong negotiation with suppliers and partners,

• Strong presentation skills and report writing

• 5years+ experience in the civil engineering industry/passive network e.g. street-works.


• Degree level education in commercial/contract/legal or equivalent, ideally RICS Chartership also.


• Must be proactive and a self-starter with strong leadership skills

• Highly analytical and numerical - able to identify and resolve problems.

• Strong decision maker and negotiator, even when under pressure

• Excellent at absorbing technical and commercial information

• Tenacious at achieving desired results and responsive to the businesses' needs.
