Our client is seeking a Senior Estimator to join their team of professionals. This position is based in Orange, CA. This is a Direct Hire.

The Senior Estimator will effectively prepare budgets and estimated proposals through quantity surveying and detailed pricing for commercial construction projects consistent with company's target project definitions. These pricing efforts must result in securing a sufficient volume of work, with acceptable profit margins, to account for a proportionate share of the forecasted revenue volume in the desired market. The Estimator will provide and/or coordinate full estimating services on large, complex work and all types of projects either directly or through subordinate personnel.

Requirements

- Prepare conceptual estimating, budgeting and pricing, based upon organized, accurate and timely quantity surveys.
- Maintain current knowledge base of material pricing and applicable code requirements.
- Properly perform due diligence to be informed about specific issues that may impact a job's difficulty, such as tight jobsite logistics, additional protection required, extraordinary safety requirements, etc.
- Effectively communicate in both written and oral form to all interested parties.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Provide complete conceptual (or bid-work) and final estimating input on complex projects.
- Coordinate total estimating effort and provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates relevant to particular bid/project as assigned.
- Insure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
- Track awarded contracts as assigned - may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring material, etc.
- Participate in project and contractual negotiations as required.
- Participate in approved estimating training sessions.
- Participate in sales and estimating efforts as required to further Raymond's industry profile and to generate revenue.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience

- Accountability
- Price and secure sufficient volume of work, at profitable margins, to account for proportionate share of revenue projections in the target market.
- Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, as well the ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
- Must have ability to prepare complex proposals with minimum supervision. Incumbent has profit/loss responsibility to the company.
Personal Development
- Increase knowledge of project management and estimating resources and developments (code requirements, industry practices, construction techniques, product development, etc.) through appropriate industry seminars and educational sources.
- Enhance knowledge of technical applications relevant to company's capabilities through appropriate/approved training sessions (i.e., computer and technology based, field applications and product developments).
- Develop management and sales skills through appropriate/approved courses and learning materials.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, & Experience
- 4 year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience required.
- 5-8 years estimating, cost control and/or engineering experience (at least 4 years estimating experience) in a similar facility construction required.
- Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, all engineering disciplines, cost control systems and accounts required.
