We are pleased to be working with our partners E.ON Climate & Renewables, helping them in their search for an Assistant Manager to work in their new Visitor Centre which is due to be opened in July, 2019. The Rampion Visitor Centre (RVC) is to be a leading information resource for offshore wind in the UK and Europe. You will be helping to illustrate the link between climate change, energy security and the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, raising awareness of the role offshore wind can play for the benefit of society as a whole.

The centre will be open six days a week, all year round. It will be typical to work a 37 hour week over a five day period. Flexibility and willingness to share weekend shifts is essential.
Responsibilities

The RVC Assistant Manager will support the Manager in management and development of all operational activities in the Visitor Centre, ensuring the delivery of an exceptional visitor experience.

Your strategic aim is to deliver our vision by reaching out and engaging with a wide and diverse audience of all ages and abilities from the local, national and international community, to positively promote the Rampion Wind Farm and offshore wind energy, highlighting the key role they play in tackling climate change and securing energy supplies.

The RVC Assistant Manager will need to be passionate about renewable energy and tackling climate change, community engagement, education, marketing and partnership working in order to maximise visitor numbers, enhance the visitor experience and transmit core messages in an enjoyable, emotive and engaging way.

Main Objectives
• To enthusiastically communicate the VC messages through developing a thorough knowledge of the Visitor Centre, the exhibitions and the stories it tells
• To build partnerships with other local attractions and tourist information centres to create an enhanced Brighton visitor experience while maximising the efficiency of resources.
• Direct a team of staff ensure to ensure delivery the standards and targets expected of a world class visitor attraction.
• Support the RVC Manager in the delivery of the educational initiatives and engagement with local schools, coordinating educational workshops and visits.
• Take on some managerial tasks when required in the absence of the RVC Manager.

Operational Management
• Motivate, and support the Visitor Centre Team to deliver the highest standard of customer care to all visitors at all times.
• To act as Duty Manager and key holder to ensure the Visitor Centre is opened and locked in accordance with the operational and security procedures and to suit the demands of the business.
• Ensure high standards of presentation within the centre are maintained at all times.

Skills
• Knowledge and passion for climate change issues, sustainable energy, wind power generation
• Excellent communication skills for dealing with a wide range of visitors, including children
• Marketing and communication skills, to drive the success of the VC
• Good interpersonal and management skills to motivate a team of staff
• A methodical, motivated and customer-focused approach to work
• An enthusiastic, friendly and confident manner
• Basic IT skills to help with troubleshooting interactive displays
• Good networker and partnership builder
• Strategic and creative thinker
• Some understanding of facilities management & health and safety.
• Experience of management within an educational visitor centre attraction is desirable
• Experience of teaching school children is desirable
• Some events management experience is desirable
