We currently seek a Workface Planner to work on a contract basis at Fawley Refinery. This role is to start in March and run through for 18 months.

WORKFACE PLANNER - SOUTHAMPTON

We are currently seeking to recruit a Workface Planner (WFP) to join our growing team at Fawley Refinery, Southampton. The WFP will be responsible for the conversion of Construction Work Packages (CWP) into Field Installation Work Packages (FIWP). They will also be responsible for ensuring that all necessary resources are available prior to releasing the FIWP and will control and monitor the FIWP post-release. The WFP will ensure that safety, quality and efficiency at the workface are considered in the planning process. In this position, they will use their hands-on construction expertise to develop Field Installation Work Packages (FIWP). They will coordinate with and provide workface construction knowledge to project schedulers, engineers, superintendents and managers. They will act as a liaison between the project controls department and workforce supervision.

Safety duties
Knowing, understanding and communicating the safety regulations (Health & Safety at Work considerations) and project specific safety policies and procedures
Identifying specific risks associated with executing the planned activities
Providing or arranging for inclusion of safety compliance in FIWP to mitigate specific risks
Ensuring safety requirements are properly conveyed to workforce supervision.

Planning duties
Developing Field Installation Work Packages (FIWP) templates
Preparing required project FIWP, which includes determining required activities, resources, special conditions, quality control, risk planning, interdependencies
Determining and coordinating resource requirements and liaising with resource coordinators
Coordinating with other contractor WFP & client WFP Coordinator to ensure alignment across disciplines
Reviewing FIWP for completeness and accuracy
Coordinating FIWP execution with field supervision
Monitoring and controlling FIWP and advising appropriate parties
Coordinating activities with field supervision, resource coordinators, project controls, quality assurance other planners, and operations personnel
Modifying, reviewing or adjusting FIWP as necessary
Conducting post-mortem on FIWP

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have previously worked in an industrial construction project environment as
a tradesperson or other construction specialist. You will have previously supervised a team of people
within this environment, whilst providing knowledge on health and safety. It is essential that
you possess good written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to develop and maintain relationships. You must be a self-driven individual, with and willingness to learn, that has a passion for planning to ensure quality and safety excellence in the field.

Qualifications/ Experience:

Construction safety training
Completed a formal supervisory training program
Completed Leadership for Safety Excellence or equivalent
Minimum 5 to 7 years' experience on industrial construction
A minimum of 3 to 5 years supervisory experience in this environment.

Desired Skills / Background:

Knowledge of health, safety and environmental programs
Experience in a company and project environment
At least one specific construction trade discipline or construction speciality
General construction and materials management skills
Basic understanding of project scheduling and estimating techniques
Understanding of how the FIWP is incorporated into the overall project schedule
