Annona Search and TRS Cook for Charity
Recently, a crack team of ‘cordon bleu’ chefs (we use the term loosely) from the London offices of Annona Search and TRS returned to Ronald McDonald House: a ‘home from home’ to the London Children’s Hospital, Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Trust. Their brief was to cook a variety of evening meals for families returning from a long day at the hospital.
Ronald McDonald House charities provide free accommodation at specialist children’s’ hospitals across the UK allowing families to stay in close reach to their child while they receive care and treatment.
This means they are just minutes away from their child rather than many hours. It gives them more time and energy to focus on maintaining a degree of normal family life, while going through what is often, a very tough period of their lives!
No less than thirteen budding ‘Gordon Ramsays’ were split into four teams. Each team had their own kitchen area and had to plan and cook a meal for four to five people in a two hour period. The meals needed to be a combination of both vegetarian and meat to suit all.
All of our chefs agreed the two hours spent cooking was a richly rewarding experience. The event served as a great way to demonstrate team spirit and offered a reflection on their fortunate position to help others in the community who are facing challenging times.
Ronald McDonald House is a great cause. They help over 6,000 families each year, so it was an honour to be a part of the charity. Follow the link below to find out more about Ronald McDonald House Charities and maybe get involved yourself: http://www.rmhc.org.uk/ .
