About the Opportunity
Our client, a growing organization within the energy and gas processing industry, is seeking a Process Engineer to join their engineering team. Reporting to the Manager of Process Engineering, this role will lead process engineering activities throughout project execution, from process simulation and equipment sizing through commissioning documentation and project delivery.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams on a variety of energy infrastructure and gas processing projects while contributing to continuous improvement and product development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and approve process simulations using industry-standard software.
- Perform and approve process equipment sizing, including vessels and piping systems.
- Develop, review, and approve Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Lead process engineering activities throughout all phases of project execution.
- Review and select major process-related equipment from vendors and suppliers.
- Perform package hydraulic calculations.
- Complete pressure relief valve (PSV) sizing, flare system calculations, and associated piping analysis.
- Conduct control valve sizing and process control evaluations.
- Perform Overpressure Protection by System Design (OPPSD) analyses.
- Develop and approve process engineering deliverables, including operating manuals, control philosophies, and shutdown documentation.
- Provide process engineering support to multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
- Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development and enhancement of company products, services, and engineering standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or an Engineering Degree/Technical Diploma with relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years of process engineering experience within the energy, oil & gas, gas processing, or related industrial sectors.
- Proficiency with Aspen software, including:
- HYSYS
- EDR
- Flare System Analyzer
- Strong understanding of gas processing systems and fabrication practices.
- Experience with plant layout and equipment design considerations.
- Working knowledge of industry codes and standards, including ASME Section VIII and ASME B31.3.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and datasheets.
- Eligible for professional registration with APEGA or an equivalent engineering association.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based with extended periods of computer work.
- Occasional travel to fabrication facilities, project sites, and client locations.
- Ability to work safely in industrial environments and wear required PPE.
- Ability to navigate active construction and fabrication sites, including stairs, ladders, and uneven surfaces.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
