Electrical Engineer – Calgary, AB Supporting a Leading North American Engineering Company
TRS Staffing is partnering with a well-established engineering organization specializing in compression, processing, and power systems for the energy sector. Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (P.Eng) to join their Professional Services team and contribute to designing safe, cost‑effective, and code‑compliant power-generation and distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical engineering for power and distribution systems (up to 15 kV) and low‑voltage builds (up to 600 V).
Select and size components including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, relays, VFDs, and motor starters.
Complete detailed electrical calculations and ensure compliance with applicable codes and project requirements.
Prepare and validate engineering deliverables: schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and drawing packages.
Estimate electrical costs during both pre‑sale and post‑sale phases.
Collaborate closely with sales, project management, design, procurement, fabrication, and service teams.
Develop and refine internal engineering tools and design standards.
Review and authenticate engineering documents in accordance with APEGA requirements.
Provide technical guidance during fabrication, testing, and commissioning.
Mentor junior engineers and support process improvements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
P.Eng designation with APEGA or eligible for
8+ years of industrial power systems
Proven experience designing power generation systems (15 kV) and building electrical systems (600 V).
Strong competency in load flow, short‑circuit, grounding, cable‑sizing, and other engineering calculations.
Skilled in preparing and reviewing electrical drawing packages.
Experience with motors, instrumentation, control wiring, and electrical systems in fabrication environments.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving abilities.
