Summary

The purpose of this position is to service and repair construction equipment in the company’s fleet and for the local customer base. This position typically reports to the Service Foreman or Supervisor. This position requires minimal supervision. 

Responsibilities
 
  • Perform routine adjustments, tests, inspections, installations, maintenance, and repairs to equipment in the shop; respond to field calls as needed.
  • Safely load and unload equipment for transporting.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including work orders, parts orders, and billings.
  • Maintain an orderly work area.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding general service needs. 
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
  • Plan, organize, and carry out assignments as directed.
  • Adhere to and support Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies.
  • Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job.
  • Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
 
  • Red Seal certification required.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is preferred. 
  • Hydraulics, electrical, engines, and power train certification preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience, preferably in the construction equipment industry.
  • Physically able to squat, stoop, bend, climb, lie on back, lift and pull, reach up and out, lift 70 lbs., carry 50 lbs., and use a 10 lb. sledgehammer (or global weight equivalents).
  • Can operate a variety of heavy and light construction equipment safely. 
  • Thorough knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, schematics, drive train, and diesel/gasoline engines.
  • Thorough knowledge of all types and applications of equipment.
  • Good communication skills dealing with customers and team members.
  • Basic computer and software skills include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs.

Working Conditions
 
  • Generally favorable indoor office workspace, and/or outdoor.
  • Various levels of environmental conditions including but not limited to project worksites and vendor/client facilities which may have temporary office space, moving mechanical parts and vibration; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and extreme temperatures and high noise levels.
