TRS Staffing Solutions has an exciting opportunity for a SeniorEstimator to join our client’s team in Edmonton, AB. Our client is a top commercial contractor known for delivering comprehensive design and construction services. The Senior Estimator will collaborate closely with the business development and pre-construction teams to prepare and interpret tender documents and specifications. This role involves providing comprehensive cost estimates for commercial and industrial projects, including conceptual, design-build, construction management/IPD/Lump-Sum, or general tender work.
Responsibilities:
Attend project estimate start-up meetings to discuss and determine effective bid strategies.
Assist corporate and project management teams in selecting projects to bid on and developing strategies for complex bid submissions.
Liaise with external consultants and clients to review drawings, specifications, and design options, recommending the best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.
Identify critical sections in tender documents and assist in securing necessary information.
Ensure all addendums and scope changes are identified and communicated to appropriate trades.
Qualifications:
Completion of post-secondary education with a diploma or degree in construction management, estimating, engineering, or a related discipline (equivalent education and experience may be considered).
Over 7 years of experience in commercial/industrial estimating, with extensive knowledge of key principles in bid preparation, including quantity take-off procedures, sub-trade procurement, pricing, and bid closing procedures.
More than 3 years of experience in a team lead role or a progressively responsible position within estimating.
Proficient with estimating and scheduling software, including Onscreen Takeoff, Microsoft Project, and MS Office Suite.
