Job Responsibilities:
- Create 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) shop fabrication drawings ranging from moderate to advanced complexity.
- Generate drawings incorporating dimensioning and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Review the work completed by fellow Designers.
- Assess drawings and vendor equipment documentation of moderate to advanced complexity within the discipline and across other disciplines to ensure compliance with project requirements, actively pursuing resolution for any discrepancies.
- Maintain adherence to industry codes and standards, as well as departmental practices and procedures.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Possession of an accredited two-year degree or its global equivalent in a technical field of study, or a blend of education and directly related experience equivalent to ten years*; certain locations may impose additional or differing qualifications to align with local mandates.
- Proficiency in CAD software, with experience in 3D software considered advantageous.
- Ability to interpret and comprehend shop fabrication blueprints.
- Sound understanding of machining, welding, and fabrication processes.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Effective communication skills to engage with various stakeholders, including management, colleagues, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Job-specific technical knowledge necessary for successful task completion.
- Capability to learn and apply knowledge of relevant local, state/provincial, and federal/national regulations and guidelines.
- Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently within set time frames.
- Familiarity with the commercial availability and cost of materials.
- Practical field experience.
- Intermediate computer and software proficiency, encompassing word processing, email, spreadsheet, and electronic presentation programs.
- Optional: Background in structural detailing.
- Optional: Knowledge of welding specifications and machining tolerances.
