Our client is proud to design and build projects and careers.  We are committed to fostering a welcoming and collaborative work environment that encourages big-picture thinking, brings out the best in our personnel, and helps us develop innovative solutions that contribute to building a better world together. If this sounds like a culture you would like to work in, you are invited to apply for this role.

Mechanical Engineer to support pharmaceutical facility projects in a high-ownership, fast-paced environment. This role requires a practical, execution-focused engineer who can independently drive equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and piping layout scope across design development, coordination, and construction support. This position is not a fabrication-level piping design role nor a HVAC specialist position; success requires broad mechanical ownership across multiple systems and project phases.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Lead equipment, HVAC system and plumbing design for pharmaceutical facilities.
•    Develop construction-ready layouts, plans, sections, details, and specifications.
•    Develop and coordinate piping layouts and routing using orthographic drawings developed from transposition models and/or 3D reference models.
•    Coordinate mechanical and piping designs with process, structural, architectural, and electrical disciplines.
•    Design and coordinate plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, and laboratory waste.
•    Perform and review load calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection.
•    Serve as the mechanical technical authority for assigned scopes, ensuring constructability and technical quality.
•    Support scope definition, basis of design development, and estimating activities
•    Participate in field walkdowns, constructability reviews, and client coordination meetings
•    Provide construction support including RFIs, redlines, technical queries, and issue resolution.

Required Experience:
•    8–10 years of experience in mechanical engineering or mechanical design
•    Experience supporting pharmaceutical or other highly regulated manufacturing facilities
•    Background in industrial facilities (manufacturing, food & beverage, pharmaceutical) or MEP consulting with significant renovation experience
•    Demonstrated ability to lead mechanical scope with limited supervision
•    Experience delivering projects through both design and construction phases
•    Hands on experience with small to mid scale projects, renovations, and brownfield / retrofit facilities
•    Demonstrated experience performing field walkdowns and site assessments
•    Proven construction supports experience, including coordination, issue resolution, and field engagement

Technical Skills, Systems & Tools
•    HVAC system design, analysis, and equipment selection, including rooftop units, exhaust systems, ventilation, and make up air
•    Design and coordination of hydronic systems, including chilled water and heating hot water
•    Facility and utility piping layout and coordination, supporting mechanical and process adjacent systems
•    Plumbing system design, including domestic water, sanitary, and laboratory waste systems
•    Familiarity with pharmaceutical utility systems, including clean utilities, process utilities, and gases
•    Strong preference for experience with utilities such as compressed air, process exhaust, steam, and condensate systems.
•    Proficient with AutoCAD (required) and Revit (preferred, but not critical)
•    Experience with HVAC load calculation tools such as Carrier HAP or Trane TRACE (nice to have; not a requirement)

Project Experience:
•    Conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design development
•    Multi-discipline coordination and execution
•    Field-based engineering support including walkdowns and constructability reviews
•    Construction support and issue resolution
•    Development of permitting and construction deliverables

Behavioral Profile:
•    The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong mindset of ownership and accountability for technical quality and schedule
•    Comfort operating in a fast-paced project environment
•    Practical, constructability-focused engineering judgment
•    Ability to make decisions with incomplete information
•    Clear and clear communication with project managers, clients, and construction teams.

What Success Looks Like
Success in this role means delivering mechanically sound, constructible designs; proactively resolving field and constructability issues; and maintaining technical quality and schedule across multiple concurrent pharmaceutical projects.

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
•    Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure preferred
