Position Summary 

TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support engineering and construction projects across a variety of industries. This role is responsible for cost control, scheduling, progress measurement, forecasting, and reporting to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project execution standards and client requirements. The Project Controls Specialist works closely with project management, engineering, construction, procurement, and finance teams throughout the project lifecycle. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze integrated project schedules and cost control systems 

  • Track project progress, quantities, productivity, and earned value metrics 

  • Prepare cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and variance analyses 

  • Monitor budgets, commitments, and expenditures to ensure cost control alignment 

  • Support change management, trend analysis, and risk and opportunity assessments 

  • Generate accurate and timely project controls reports for internal leadership and clients 

  • Support baseline development, updates, and change control processes 

  • Interface with engineering, construction, procurement, subcontractors, and vendors to validate progress and cost data 

  • Assist with project closeout, lessons learned, and final cost reporting 

  • Ensure compliance with client project controls procedures, contract requirements, and client standards 

Required Qualifications 

Education & Experience (one of the following): 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline with 6+ years of project controls experience, OR 

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant project controls experience 

Additional requirements: 

  • Demonstrated experience supporting engineering and construction projects 

  • Proficiency with project controls tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Excel 

  • Strong understanding of project cost control, scheduling, and performance measurement 

  • Ability to analyze data and communicate findings clearly to project stakeholders 

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working in EPC or construction contractor environments 

  • Familiarity with earned value management (EVM) principles 

  • Experience with cost systems, forecasting tools, or ERP platforms 

  • Prior experience supporting large capital projects 

Work Environment 

  • Office-based with project or construction sites as required 

  • May support multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Fast-paced, collaborative engineering and construction environment
