Job Description: CMMS Subject Matter Expert (IBM Maximo) – EPC
Position Overview
The CMMS Subject Matter Expert (SME) is responsible for configuring, governing, and optimizing IBM Maximo to support asset management, maintenance execution, and reliability objectives across EPC projects and operating facilities. This role applies Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles and Lean practices to ensure accurate asset data, efficient work processes, and disciplined maintenance execution.
The SME aligns Maximo functionality with maintenance planning, scheduling, materials management, and reliability strategies to improve data quality, streamline workflows, eliminate non‑value‑added activities, and drive continuous improvement throughout the EPC project lifecycle and transition to operations.
Key Responsibilities
CMMS (IBM Maximo) Configuration & Governance
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for IBM Maximo across EPC projects and operational assets.
- Configure and govern Maximo modules to support asset hierarchies, work management, preventive maintenance, materials management, and reporting.
- Establish standards for data structure, naming conventions, workflows, and system usage to ensure consistency and reliability.
- Ensure Maximo configuration supports RCM strategies and asset reliability objectives.
- Align PMs, job plans, failure codes, and asset data with reliability and maintenance strategies.
- Partner with Reliability and Engineering teams to ensure accurate asset and maintenance data supports decision‑making.
Lean & Process Optimization
- Apply Lean principles to streamline CMMS workflows and eliminate non‑value‑added activities.
- Improve work order quality, approval flows, and data entry processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on standardization, flow, and system effectiveness.
Maintenance Planning, Scheduling & Materials Alignment
- Ensure Maximo supports maintenance planning and scheduling processes, including backlog management and schedule compliance.
- Align CMMS functionality with materials management, inventory transactions, and kitting processes.
- Support coordination between Maintenance, Planning, Supply Chain, and Operations teams.
Data Quality & Performance Management
- Ensure high levels of data accuracy and integrity across asset, work order, and inventory records.
- Develop and monitor KPIs related to maintenance performance, reliability, backlog health, and CMMS effectiveness.
- Provide reporting and insights to support operational and project leadership.
EPC Project & Handover Support
- Support EPC projects during construction, commissioning, startup, and transition to operations.
- Configure Maximo to support new assets, turnover packages, and maintenance readiness.
- Ensure CMMS processes are sustainable and aligned with long‑term operational needs post‑handover.
Training & Stakeholder Support
- Provide guidance, training, and support to CMMS users, planners, schedulers, and maintenance teams.
- Act as a liaison between IT, Reliability, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and EPC project teams.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience as a CMMS Subject Matter Expert with IBM Maximo.
- Strong working knowledge of Reliability‑Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.
- Proven experience applying Lean methodologies to maintenance and CMMS processes.
- Experience supporting EPC projects, industrial facilities, utilities, or power generation environments.
Preferred
- Experience supporting construction‑to‑operations handover and commissioning activities.
- Strong understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, and materials management processes.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and change‑management skills.
