Job Title: EHS Project Support Manager
Location: Duncan, SC
Duration: Contract (2 months)
Compensation: $34/hr
Description
The EHS Project Support Manager coordinates contractor activities for 1 or more manufacturing facilities located in the Duncan, SC area. This position will ensure that compliance is maintained and regulatory requirements related to construction projects and line moves. This person will support project engineers, site leadership, and contractors.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support project managers and site leadership with enforcement of EHS requirements in relation to construction, installations and line moves, along with building and property infrastructure modifications and improvements.
- Provide coordination and oversight of contractor activities, including facilitating daily start of shift meeting with contractors.
- Permitting coordination and do the meeting (hot work, confined space, rescue plans prior to work start). Checking in on contractor work.
- Monitor contractors for safe work practices and notify leadership of issues or opportunities
- Use of contractor audit form. Building tracking system for contractor audits completed and contractor scorecard. Need time to build scorecard and track.
- Support the process of EHS change management of new equipment / new lines.
- Support EHS pre-startup reviews and actions coming from reviews.
- Support EHS with completion / verification of pre-start up reviews using PEHSR tool.
- Ensures contractors are onboarded through contractor approval process and verifying they are prepared to follow regulatory and requirements.
- Task: Working with completion for PJSAs with contractor, contractor orientation training verification, contractor verified in EHS contractor database. Potentially get COIs if expired?
- Complete EHS auditing / inspections for conditions and behaviors of contractors and associates working on projects and line moves.
- Ensures all contractor related incidents are reported and recorded according to regulatory and requirements.
- Needs access to ETQ. Needs to tie off with onsite contractors and potentially work with other contractor management. Be part of investigations.
- Support compliance with applicable environmental programs and permits for construction projects (i.e. industrial wastewater, stormwater, air emissions, hazardous waste, etc.)
- Unknown for time for this. Work with EHS and BLE/HRP as concerns arise.
- Serve as point contract for contractors working on site for technical & scope questions and route inquires to responsible engineer for resolution/response.
- Accumulate “as built” information and provide responsible engineers updates to plant layout and technical documents.
- Provide input to improve and optimize installations or equipment moves.
- Obtaining quotes for contractor work for input to budgetary processes.
- Review contractor quotes.
- Tracking contractor hours for verification of invoicing in time & material agreements.
- Problem Solving – Excellent ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and provide suggestions for improvements or corrective actions
- Interpersonal skills – Communicates and works well with all levels of the organization; develops relationships with stakeholders to ensure their involvement and commitment
- Initiative – Keeps abreast of changing regulations and procedures; develops new and innovative methods for implementing EHS processes

- 10 years' experience in plant installations and modifications including oversight of contractors' execution, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Incident management, root cause analysis, and investigation skills; ensures appropriate corrective actions are established, tracked and completed in a timely manner
- Knowledgeable in Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES).
- Requires general personal computer skills as well as the ability to use Microsoft Operating System.
- Possess the ability to conduct training for groups of employees with knowledge of adult learner teaching techniques
- Proven success managing projects and contractors, change management and equipment reviews.
- Knowledge of industry best practices relating to EHS process improvements
- Ability to interface with multiple levels of the organization and communicate effectively to promote buy-in and reduce or eliminate negative associations with EHS initiatives.
