Position: Plant HSE Manager
Location: Chattanooga, TN

MISSION:
To provide Management and Associates with the technical guidance, oversight and support necessary to ensure a safe working environment and maintain compliance with applicable HSE programs, regulations and laws. Further perform or direct performance of all activities recognized to achieve/maintain HSE related ISO certifications.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:
• Manages and develops all internal Health, Safety and Environmental policies
• Identifies all safety needs and develop programs to address them
• Works with appropriate departments to implement engineering controls to mitigate hazards
• Conducts/directs safety audits for manufacturing facilities and maintains required safety records
• Develops and directs all safety training programs, including but not limited to:
o Emergency evacuation procedures
o Confined space entry program
o Ergonomics program
o Hazard communications
o Bloodborne pathogen program
o Regulatory Compliance
• Monitors OSHA compliance and legislative and regulatory developments
• Advises on implications of regulatory changes and makes appropriate recommendations on the same
• Maintains all necessary records specific to Health, Safety and Environmental
• Develops annual HSE goals and objectives at the plant level, based on internal objectives
• Promotes safety awareness via various communication means
• Provides feedback to relevant managers results of inspections, investigations, etc.
• Ensures proper and complete investigation and review of all accidents / incidents
• Reports to Plant Manager, relevant Department Manager, all matters pertaining to reportable accidents
• Oversees workers compensation program
• Presents HSE Reports to Plant Managers and Directors as required
• Manages Security contractor
• Manages, develops, implements and maintains certification to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
• Develops and applies for facility operating permits (coordinate with Engineering)
• Manages all hazardous waste materials and hazardous waste programs
• Conducts environmental audits for facility and maintains required environmental records and programs
• Responsible for environmental training programs
• Monitors and tracks active permit issues including corrective action programs
• Coordinates and conducts all appropriate HSE training material

REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Safety/Industrial Hygiene or similar (preferred) with minimum 5 years of experience managing EHS functions in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment with heavy equipment, automation, robotics, etc.
• Specific experience in the management of hazardous waste, wastewater, air permitting compliance, hazard communication, chemical management, industrial hygiene, emergency response, and integrated HSE management systems
• RCRA Certification and DOT Certification preferred
• ISO 14001 and OSHA 18001 experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to interface with all levels of the organization
• Ability to learn the overall processes to each department
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, etc. regulations and programs
• Good computer skills
