Overview
TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead capital engineering and procurement projects for major industrial clients across North America.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced project leader to manage projects from proposal development through execution, construction support, and project closeout. The successful candidate will oversee project delivery, client relationships, project controls, resource planning, and multidisciplinary coordination while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy industrial, refinery, oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, or manufacturing environments and possess extensive experience managing complex engineering projects through all phases of execution.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead and manage capital engineering and procurement projects from proposal development through project closeout.
- Oversee projects up to approximately $60M Total Installed Cost (TIC).
- Establish project objectives, execution plans, budgets, schedules, and resource requirements.
- Ensure project delivery aligns with contract requirements, client expectations, and business objectives.
- Provide leadership and direction to multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasting, and resource planning activities.
- Implement and maintain project control processes and change management systems.
- Monitor project performance and proactively identify risks, issues, and mitigation strategies.
- Review and approve project invoices and financial deliverables.
- Ensure effective planning and execution across all project phases.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Lead client meetings, project reviews, and decision-making discussions.
- Prepare project reports, presentations, and written communications.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project execution and stakeholder engagement.
- Support proposal preparation for new projects and subsequent project phases.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering and process improvements.
- Capture and implement lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, safety, and project performance.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and project controls activities.
- Forecast staffing requirements and manage project resource allocation.
- Promote collaboration across disciplines and project teams.
- Support a culture of accountability, communication, and teamwork.
- Promote a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
- Ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
- Foster a zero-incident culture across all project activities.
- Maintain focus on quality, value, and client satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Equivalent project management experience may be considered.
- Minimum 8 years of industrial project experience.
- Minimum 4 years of Project Management experience leading complex engineering projects.
- Experience supporting:
- Refinery projects
- Oil & Gas facilities
- Petrochemical facilities
- Industrial manufacturing
- Energy and heavy industrial projects
Project Management Skills
Strong experience with:
- Capital project delivery
- Front-End Loading (FEL)
- Detailed design execution
- Construction support and oversight
- Project funding and approval processes
- Cost management
- Forecasting and budgeting
- Scheduling and planning
- Change management systems
- Resource forecasting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Proven client-facing experience.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through and accountability.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced project environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing refinery or petrochemical capital projects.
- EPC/EPCM project management experience.
- Experience overseeing engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
- Strong understanding of industrial project execution methodologies.
- Experience supporting brownfield facility upgrades and capital improvement programs.
- PMP certification is a plus.
Work Schedule
- Fully remote opportunity within the United States.
- Candidates must reside in a state where operations are supported.
- Preference given to candidates located near major industrial and engineering hubs.
- Flexible work environment with regular collaboration across project teams and clients.
Travel Requirements
- Travel to project sites, client facilities, and meetings as required.
- Frequent site visits may be necessary during active project execution phases.
- Less than 15% overnight travel.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC Card.
- Ability to obtain required site-specific safety certifications and badges.
- HHFT Safety Training certification or ability to obtain.
- Successful completion of background screening.
- Participation in federally mandated drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
