Responsibilities
Lead and develop the Account Management and Customer Supplier Relationship teams, ensuring alignment with site and corporate objectives.
Define and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy for recycling raw materials, aligned with production plans and sustainability initiatives.
Establish KPIs and performance standards, implementing corrective actions as needed to ensure operational and financial targets are achieved.
Job Description
Serve as a key member of the site leadership team, contributing to business planning, risk management, and strategic decision-making.
Service and grow the North American supplier base for recycling raw materials; establish and maintain long-term partnerships.
Prepare, lead, and finalize contract negotiations with suppliers, ensuring value creation and risk mitigation.
Identify and onboard new suppliers, explore new material streams, and expand the procurement portfolio.
Monitor and report on market trends, commodity developments, and competitor activities; provide market analyses to inform decision-making.
Conduct regular supplier visits to strengthen relationships and ensure alignment with company expectations.
Coordinate with Customer Service and internal stakeholders to ensure reliable deliveries, contract fulfillment, and effective issue resolution.
Liaise closely with production, engineering, sustainability, and finance teams to forecast needs and support seamless procurement activities.
Build and lead a customer service team that provides efficient, reliable, and supplier-oriented support.
Oversee contract administration for raw materials and products, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Implement and maintain Customer Service processes, documentation, and systems, including S4/HANA.
Manage commercial risks within the customer service portfolio and ensure high-quality standards across all CS processes.
Serve as a key interface to finance, especially during month-end closing activities.
Collaborate with other smelters and corporate teams to ensure consistency and leverage best practices.
Position employer as the customer of choice for suppliers through reliable service and transparent communication.
Partner with corporate sustainability teams to ensure procurement strategy supports circular economy and ESG commitments.
Drive continuous improvement and process optimization in both procurement and customer service functions.
Represent employer in commercial discussions, negotiations, and external stakeholder engagements.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive commercial, procurement, or supply chain leadership experience, preferably in recycling, metals, or industrial sectors.
Proven experience in raw material sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management.
Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in developing and executing procurement strategies.
Knowledge of ERP/IT systems (S4/HANA experience strongly preferred).
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
Commitment to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be willing and physically able to observe and walk in a smelter environment.
Must be willing and physically able to work in varying cold and heat situations.
Could have times that are prolonged periods of walking, standing, and bending.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Ability to travel throughout the facility as required to conduct audits and make observations.
Must wear all required PPE when in protected areas.
Required to reach and grasp with hands and reach with arms.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Willing and physically able to travel domestically and/or internationally if requested.
