MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT

LOCATION: Gulf of Guinea (Western Africa) - Equatorial Guinea
OFFSHORE DRILLING RIG: FPSO ASENG and FPSO Serpentina

The Maintenance Superintendent will exhibit exemplary leadership, managerial, and safety behaviours and will specifically ensure that all aspects of maintenance and condition monitoring activities are carried out effectively and efficiently.

Typical Responsibilities & Standards:
• Promote safety awareness and application of company Management Systems, COPs, and prime policies.
• Report concisely in accordance with Management System requirements with due regard for document control.
• Ensure timely and effective closeout of survey and relevant audit actions.
• Ensure change management procedures are applied appropriately.
• Contribute effectively to incident investigation, review, and reporting.

Personnel
• Manage the operation of the vessel systems at the department level through supervisors and subordinate staff.
• Exercise appropriate authority regarding career development, providing training and support in terms of a competence assurance system.
• Ensure probationary and annual appraisals are completed fairly and consistently in a timely manner.
• Manage welfare and disciplinary issues at the departmental level with appropriate reference to OIM and Fleet HR.

Works
• Efficient operation of unit systems having due regard for Health and safety.
• Ensure full compliance with PTW system, and Risk assessment and verification.
• Ensure full compliance with Class, Flag, and Port State requirements, preserving the vessel’s operational status.
• Effective supervision of the project, sub-contract, and vendor personnel.
• Efficiency improvement and pursuance of company goals.
• Responsible for condition monitoring, maintenance, and repair of vessel and process systems.
• Manage parts control, inventories storage record keeping, shipping, and receiving by use of AMOS.
Contract
• Manage operations in conjunction with all department heads to maximize efficiency and uptime.
• Maintain effective cost control and promote cost awareness in others.
• Maintain awareness of key issues relating to client and subcontractor relationships.

Emergency Response
• Demonstrate through exercises and scenarios, knowledge, and awareness of emergency response techniques.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the potential impact of incidents and scenarios on vessel safety and security.
• Contribute effectively to the preparation of useful exercises and to post-exercise/ incident review and investigation.

Pre-hire Qualifications and Experience
• Proven experience and results-oriented career AND/OR HND or Degree equivalents in an appropriate engineering subject, or STCW III/2 Chief Engineer Officer on ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 3,000 kW propulsion power or more, (motor and steam endorsement preferred) or equivalent.
• 2 years minimum as Maintenance Superintendent (or Operations Office based equivalent).
• Experience and knowledge of Safety Management in hydrocarbon processing operations.
• Experience and knowledge of hydrocarbon processing systems and utility systems, preferred.
• Supervisory experience of Permit to Work, Mechanical/Electrical Isolation Standards and Risk Assessment.
• Medically fit to offshore international standards such as ENG1 or equivalent.

Personal: Conscientious, flexible, versatile, and determined. Capable of assertive and positive communication and performance.
Leadership: Exemplary safety and managerial leadership skills. Good levels of written and spoken communication in the English language. A clear understanding of personnel, behavioural, and team issues. Capable of motivating Senior staff members and Technicians. Flexible in applying different approaches to changing work demands
Technical: Appropriate standard of managerial, technical, and professional knowledge as defined by competencies.
IT: Good knowledge and skill with ‘Maintenance Management System’ interface. Practical familiarity with standard ‘Office’ software packages. Operation and use of Internet and electronic mail system.
