The Principal, Toxicology will lead high-impact scientific evaluations and strategic initiatives that influence the safety and transparency of ingredients across a global product portfolio. This role drives innovation in ingredient communication, restricted materials assessment, emerging chemistry trends, and scientific issue management. You’ll be the go-to expert for advanced safety assessments and data interpretation, collaborating with senior leaders to craft and communicate chemical governance strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead comprehensive human health risk assessments for chemical ingredients across global product categories
- Conduct chemical reviews to support ingredient transparency and sustainability initiatives
- Monitor and evaluate emerging scientific and regulatory issues related to chemistry and toxicology
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for ingredient communication and governance
- Drive the development and communication of narratives around critical chemistries to support external engagement and education
- Provide scientific leadership in the development of technical solutions and risk mitigation strategies
- Represent the company in industry working groups and scientific forums to advance chemical safety and sustainability
- Mentor and coach technical staff, fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous learning
- Support marketing, legal, and supply chain teams with technical insights and regulatory guidance
REQUIREMENTS
- Doctorate Degree in Toxicology (or closely related field) with 7+ years of direct/relevant experience in product safety, toxicology or chemical risk assessment
- Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Proven ability to lead complex scientific projects and translate findings into actionable strategies
- Strong collaboration skills across departments and with external stakeholders
- Experience with global regulatory frameworks and sustainability standards
- Strategic thinking and ability to influence chemical governance at a corporate level
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
